Make sure you don’t offend the Mohammedans

Today I found a great article on Digg. It’s titled, The List of Things That Offend Muslims. The post is from the Amboy Times. To sum it up, the Amboy Times probably isn’t high on the list of freedom hating followers of Islam. I’ve tossed in a quote below…

“The intent of the list is to illustrate the futility of the multicultural approach to Islam. Sharia law demands submission not only from Muslims, but from non-Muslims as well. This makes respectful coexistence nearly impossible with Muslims in Infidel lands. The examples below serve as reminder that submitting to one complaint or another only emboldens Muslims to seek to further their ultimate goal of establishing sharia.”

The point is to highlight how many silly and stupid things have offended followers of Islam, or were changed out of the fear of offending the followers if Islam.

It’s just interesting, very interesting.

  1. People from every culture and every religion get offended. The vast majority of the muslims in the world, nearly 80%, live outside the middle east, and under various forms of shari’a. I get the feeling that your comments are more addressed towards that minority. And the even smaller minority of those who operate from a fundamental belief system and who even care to be offended by some of the stuff mentioned in the article.

  2. I completely agree about the appeasing…there will always be people who are easily offended. My (badly made) point is that these people are not offended because they are Muslim, it’s ‘cos they want to be offended.

Us Scots are regularly offended by the bias of the British media towards England, but the plain fact is that most of the British population is in England, so they get more coverage. Nothing more than that. They don’t want to offend, but we want to be offended.

  3. Do ALL muslims get offended by these things…or just some? Sharia law isn’t a strict entity. It’s an easy thing for fundamentalists to call on to back them up because it can be ambiguous.

I find it hard to believe that there is anything in Sharia law that says people should be offended by the American flag…a relatively new symbol.

    …just sayin’ πŸ˜‰
